General questions

Our vessel departs from the Brunswick Heads Boat Harbour, just 15 minutes North of Byron Bay, where you will find plenty of free parking all day.
If you do not have your own transport, taxis, ubers or public transports are also available.

We understand that sometimes life happens, therefore we offer 100% refunds on cancellations up to 48 hours before your tour. Same applies if you wish to change your date or departure time.

Our tours are subject to suitable tides and sea conditions and your safety and comfort is our priority. Our team monitors the forecast everyday and our decision are mostly based upon wind and swell strengths and directions. If your tour is cancelled due to unsuitable sea conditions, you can reschedule to another day or receive a full refund.
Tours run in light rain and other moderate weather conditions, but we may cancel in the event of severe or unsafe weather or ocean conditions.

Our low profile and open vessel usually reduces the chances of sea sickness compared to taller boats with more rocking motion.
However, every individual is different and if you have never been on a vessel, are prone to motion sickness or have concerns, we recommend you speak to a local chemist the day before your tour to purchase sea sickness medication.

Our tours are family friendly and the minimum age to participate in all cruises is 5 years old.

Whale Watching Questions

Thanks to our extensive knowledge about whales and our local waters, the chances are very high! But we are viewing wild animals in their natural habitat and sometimes the whales can be more elusive. We care about giving you the best experience which is why we will offer you a FREE return trip if you don’t see a whale during your cruise. This guarantee does not expire and is non-transferable.
As responsible whale watchers, we follow the national guidelines and we will not approach whales closer than 100m. However, whales are inquisitive and can approach our vessel as close as they wish.
The Byron Bay whale season starts mid-May and ends late October. Each year can be different and we will start our whale watching tours when there is enough whale to ensure a good experience. No cruises are the same and each time of the migration can offer a different type of encounter.
To be completely honest there is really no ‘better time’, whales are equally active all day. As a general rule, the ocean is calmer in the mornings, although this is not always the case.
We recommend warm clothing, rainproof jacket, flat comfortable shoes, hat or beanie and sunglasses. It is usually colder on the open water than on land. You’re welcome to bring your camera, although our onboard professional photographer will also capture special moments of your trip and share the photos through our social media at the end of each day. And most importantly, remember to bring a sense of adventure!
Possibly yes. It does not happen very often but sometimes higher winds or choppy conditions can result in some sea spray when out on the water. Therefore we provide spray jackets and recommend bringing protective cases for your phones and cameras.
Please allow 3 hours in total for your experience.

Snorkelling Questions

To be completely honest there is really no ‘better time’, you can see beautiful marine life all day.
As a general rule, the ocean is calmer in the mornings, although this is not always the case

The visibility at Julian Rocks is highly variable from 5 to 25+ metres, depending on current and sea conditions. Generally, we get nicer water in the summer months.

Julian Rocks is home to over 1000 marine species – Sea Turtles, Leopard Sharks, Manta Rays and Grey Nurse Sharks are all common visitors. Learn more about what you can expect here.

Swimmers, towel, drinking water and a sense of adventure!
You’re welcome to bring you underwater camera, although our onboard professional photographer will also capture special moments of your trip and share the photos through our social media at the end of each day.

Yes, we ask our participants to be able to swim 50 metre unassisted and be comfortable in open water. However no previous snorkelling experience is required. We also have pool noodles available for extra flotation.

Unfortunately we do not offer prescription masks, due to the amount of prescriptions we would need to cover. If you use glasses we recommend that you bring contact lenses as the glasses do not fit under the mask. If you do however own a prescription mask, you are of course welcome to use it on the tour.
Please allow 2.5 hours in total for your experience.
